I was fortunate enough to work at Hounds of York after I moved to Toronto from Australia three years ago. Now, back home in Australia, I have had time to reflect on my experience there. I can not speak highly enough of Sherry and her team. They are, quite simply, the most caring and knowledgable people in the business. I have no reason to write this review other than the sheer admiration I have for Sherry and everything she has achieved. I have seen her professionalism and dedication time and time again. As a client first, before I begged Sherry for a job, I have first hand knowledge of the care she gave my two dogs, who are now home in Melbourne. I carry with me, everyday, the tools she gave me about nutrition and obedience. My dogs are now 12 and have never been healthier or happier. I still lean on her for advice, and probably always will. I am so proud to have worked there and to have called this outstanding group of people my colleagues and mates. To all the former clients I dealt with, I miss you and your fur kids everyday. It was one of the most rewarding experiences of my life.read more
Cannot speak highly enough about this place and the staff are exceptional. My Shiba absolutely loves his full day sessions and I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a relatively cost effective way to ensure your pup is taken care of during business hours.
Only complaint is that the packages have an expiry date of 30 days from the date of purchase which can cause issues.read more
I have been bringing Maisie, my 4-month old puppy, to Hounds of York for the past 2 weeks and she is always extremely excited to come here. They acclimate each puppy in to their respective energy group based on their comfort level around other dogs.
Camille has been very patient with me and the questions I've had (and there have been a lot... especially as a new dog owner). She had great recommendations for training treats, harnesses, and has been overall extremely helpful.
I very much appreciate the kindness and affection the team has shown to Maisie, she is always very excited and happy to see everyone at HOY 🙂read more
Stopped in here on Wednesday and I was impressed. The new manager was super knowledgeable and able to answer all my questions. Looking forward to dropping my dog off for daycare on Tuesday and to transition him onto his new dog food it was a little pricy but based on the ingredients I’ll gladly pay a higher price for the high quality food. It’s nice to have a pet store and doggy daycare I will be able to trust to take great care of my little Eugenie.read more
My dog Sunny (a border collie/husky mix) has been very picky lately with this food and will sometimes not even touch it until he is starving. The staff was very helpful assisting me with which flavors/food brands/types and even simple tips to try such as just adding warm water to his kibble! Sunny is back to eating his food again. Thank you!
We love the daycare here, and most importantly our dog loves it too! At first our puppy was shy, but they went out of their way help him to acclimatize. Now he can’t wait to play with his friends, and comes home happy and tired. They also sells high quality food and toys, making it a one stop shop for anything puppy related. Highly recommend!
My dog playcares at Hounds of York and I have always found everyone to be most flexible and accommodating. I have had to phone Trish on short notice for times when I had to go for business or family travels and I know that Scooter is welcome and well taken care of. Peace of mind is the best!
This place is NOT an option if you’re considering daycare for your dog. My dog attended this daycare for around a month until I got a call from Toronto City’s animal services telling me that my dog was running very afraid around on the street in the middle of a snowstorm without the leash. I couldn't believe that was my dog because I left him at daycare that morning but he was! When I arrived at the place the staff was pretty nervous and they just told me the dog by himself left the place running. How can a dog escape by himself from a place where they have one yard and two doors for security reasons? The most disappointing thing was that they didn’t even call me to let me know my dog was missing. I knew he was lost until Toronto City found him because of the license tag! I am glad my dog is fine but he could have an accident because of the lack of responsibility from this place.
I went back later for a detailed explanation about what happen and they told me I need to speak with someone else and they will call me so I asked for my money back for the days I didn´t use for my daycare package. The next day they told me the owner will call me. I haven't got a detailed explanation and I still waiting for a call from the owner. Please do NOT LEAVE YOUR DOGS there if you´re looking for a safe place.read more
Sherry and her team are amazing! The Toronto Iggy Group loves to meet up here! The space is bright, clean and we always have such a fun time! There’s a lovely store in front selling good quality pet products too. We love coming here and Sherry has been so warm and welcoming. We’ll be back again and again! Thanks Sherry!
My puppy comes here for daycare every day and LOVES it! She gets super excited every time we get close to this place. Drop-off and pick-up is always smooth and quick, they have separate areas in daycare based on temperament/energy levels, which is perfect for a small breed puppy like mine. Their shop also offers lots of high quality items in terms of dog/cat food, toys, clothing and accessories.
Everyone I've met that works here have been really friendly, warm and welcoming since day 1, and I feel really calm and safe knowing my pup is being taken care of while I'm at work.
Couldn't recommend them more. :)read more
